Furnace Air-Intake Pipe Is Clogged?
My furnace has been shutting off recently. The furnace runs alright for awhile after I turn the power to it off for a couple of hours. I got the furnace running and checked in air-intake pipe that is on the side of my house. There was no air being pulled into the pipe. The exhaust vent was working fine. These pipes are only a couple of inches away from each other.
Is it possible the pipe is just clogged? Is there a motor that pulls in the air from the outside? I plan to cut the PVC pipe near my furnace later today to see if there is a clog.
How does the air get drawn into the intake pipe? Is it a motor or is it just how the system works?
There is not supposed to be much detectable air flowing through the combustion air intake pipe. It just gets a slight draft partially influenced by the exhaust. It might have a bird nest in it but it wouldn't be the cause of your problem.
